Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has condemned in strong terms the act of vandalism perpetrated on its members and people of the state by the PDP during its rally in the state on Sunday.

In a statement, the chairman of the party, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani Maikatako expressed disgust on how the opposition PDP smuggled thugs from other states to join hands with their counterparts in the state to cause havoc.

Some of the PDP members arrested for carrying weapons during the party’s rally last Sunday

Danfulani therefore called on the security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to book to serve as deterrent to others.

“The perpetrators and their sponsors should be brought to book so that we can continue to enjoy the peace that is gradually returning to our state”. Said Danfulani.

Danfulani stressed that, this was the second time the opposition PDP was trying the cause unrest in the state through hiring some unscrupulous persons to attack innocent people in the state and steal or destroy their properties anytime they were holding rallies in the state.

The first one according to Danfulani was held at the PDP Gubernatorial candidate’s residence where innocent citizens where shot to death while others were hospitalised.

He maitained that what happened during the PDP rally on Sunday has clearly exonerated APC from evil plans of killing and destruction of citizens’ properties as nobody pointed accusing finger against any APC member.

He stressed that, the PDP has been losing support in the state, a situation which has forced the party to adopt all sorts of thuggery activities in order to disrupt the attention of the APC

“We believe that their action to breach the peace in the state owed to the fact that success is not on their side as the state electorate have turned their support to the APC and its candidates”.

“APC as a party, we have the conviction that Politics is all about number so they should go and convience the electorate rather than destroy the peace we are recording”.

“We however want the PDP to note that the law enforcement agents are alive to their duties and we have reported to them of how the PDP thugs stormed the state right from Bimasa, the border village along Sokoto-Gusau road destroying all APC billboards, posters and any other indicator of the APC up to the state capital”.

“This is unbecoming of a political party that is trying to come to power, and we, as a party and as government of the day, will not condone such archaic and barbaric acts”.

According to Danfulani, APC had two major rallies in Talata Mafara and Kaura Namoda as well as many others in Gusau, the state capital but nothing ever happened against any political party.

“We therefore call on the security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to book to serve as deterrent so that we can continue to enjoy the peace that is gradually returning to our state”.

It is also by doing so that the peace accord signed by all the political parties for a violence-free campaigns will be seen to be effectively implemented”. Concluded Danfulani.
