The district head of Yankuzo in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara state, kogo Hamza who was shot by bandits has died, while receiving treatment in the hospital.
Hamza was shot severally by bandits along Tsafe Yankuzo-road and was rushed to the Federal medical center Gusau where he died last Saturday night.
Yankuzo is the hometown of the dreaded bandits’leader Ado Aliero who was declared wanted by the military.
An indigene of the area Audu Mohammed informed Analyzer news that, the district head was attacked by bandits along Tsafe Yankuzo road on Saturday while he was returning to his domain after a meeting with the Emir of Tsafe.
Mohammed said, “The bandits had wanted to abduct him but he refused to stop”.
“They chased him and opened fire at his car where he sustained injuries as a result of gunshots”.
“He was rushed to Tsafe General hospital and later transfered to the Federal Medical Center Gusau where he finally died on Saturday night”.
Efforts to get comment from the state police command failed as its spokesperson SP Mohammed Shehu could not be reached on phone.
