Zamfara set to host 37th Qur,anic recitation competition with Buhari in Attendance

Arrangement has been concluded by Zamfara state government to host this year’s Quranic recitation competition slated to hold tomorrow Friday 16.

Addressing Journalists in Gusau on Thursday, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Matawalle, Alhaji Zailani Bappa said this year’s competition organized by the Center for Islamic Studies of the Usmanu Dan Fodio University was tagged “ZAMFARA 2022/1444 AH”.

Bappa who stood in for commissioner of information said competition was an annual event where able-abled young men and Women who were versed in the memorisation and correct recitation of of the Holy Quran qei brought together from all the states of the federation and FCT to display their talents.

 He maintained that at the end of the event, winners in various categories of the competition would emerge and rewarded. 

He said, “This is to serve as encouragement to others so that the tradition of preserving the Book of Allah in human memory is preserved and promoted”.

Bappa stated that the state was the first state to take the lead in the adoption of complete Sharia code for Islamic Judicial system which encouraged other states of the federation to follow suit.

He said, “Since then, the state government has always been in the forefront in its support to Islamic culture which is unequivocally, our way of life”.

The present administration of His Excellency, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle has done a lot in ensuring that our people live a clean way of life as enshrined in our Islamic code”. 

“One of the major achievements in this regard is the fierce fight against unscrupulous and wayward elements who chose to desecrate the  Holy Quran, including dumping it in pit latrines for obviously dubious purposes”.

”This has led to the conferment of the title of “Khadimul Quran” on His Excellency, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle”.

According to Bappa, the event would be officially flagged off on Friday, the 16th Of this month at the Trade Fair Complex, Eastern bye-pass Gusau by 10am. 

He added that the Presidents and Commanders in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and Mohammed Bazoum of Niger Republic will be the Special Guests of Honour at the occasion. 

The Chairman of the occasion will be the Borno State Executive Governor, Proffessor Babagana Umara Zullum. 

The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Garbai Amin El-Kanemi would serve as the Royal father of the day, while His Excellency the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Bello Mohammed remain the Chief Host.

The competition would be in six categories and only young men and women of 25 years and below are eligible to participate. 

Winners of two out of these six categories will participate in the  annual King Abdulazeez Quranic Recitation competition to be held in Saudi Arabia.

He said that this was another opportunity for the Government and people of Zamfara state to prove its lead as number one Sharia State in Nigeria.

Bappa said, “The administration of Khadimul Quran is yet taking another bold step to serve the Holy Quran meritoriously”.

”We are officially inviting you to be part of this historical event and also to solicit for your utmost co-operation in proper and objective reporting of the event as it lasts”.

“We also wish to invite the general public to come out en-masse and participate in the event throughout the one week period”. 

“This one week long event will be a test of our hospitality to the young men and women of God from across Nigeria and also to their accompanying tutors”. 

“We call on all citizens of Zamfara State not to be left out in earning the benefits of abundant reward from the Almighty God as they support this laudable programme”.
