In an effort to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections, the Zamfara state commissioner of police, CP Kolo Yusuf has started a mop up operation beginning with the most dreaded Tsafe-Yankara road.
The road is one of the most dangerous spots in the state where banditry is carried out even during the day time.
In a statement, the spokesperson of the state police command SP Mohammed Shehu said, CP Kolo Yusuf in conjunction with other heads of security agencies and the INEC have continued to strategize on how to beef up security in all the nooks and crannies of the state before, during and after the 2023 general elections.
Shehu said, as part of the strategies, a mop up operation has commenced, stressing that, “The Commissioner of Police had led a police tactical operatives to Kotorkoshi – Yandoto – Tsafe axis”.
The Commissioner according to Shehu has assured the general public especially people of the state that security agencies and other stakeholders would join hands together and working in synergy to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
To further strengthen the existing security emplacement, CP Kolo has directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police officers (DPOs) to adopt same initiatives in their respective jurisdictions.
CP Kolo also called on members of the public to continue to partner with the Police and other security agencies to make the state conducive for free, fair and peaceful elections.
