With barely fory-eight hours to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party in Kebbi State has called for the uncoditional release of their members unlawfully detained by the authorities
Addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the Chairman PDP Presidential Campaign Committee in the State Dr Bello Haliru Mohammed said about twenty members of the party were in detention for unknown reasons
The veteran politician described the action as a direct attack to democracy and an infringement to the fundermental rights of the citizens under detention thereby called for their release to return to their normal lifestyle
Dr Bello Mohammed charged Kebbi State Government, the Police and the Judiciary to create an enabling environment that will ensure free and fair elections come next Saturday by maitaining neutral status
While appealling to the party faithfuls to be law abiding before, during and after Saturday Polls, the PDP stalwart said further actions will be taken if the authories in the State refused to release their unlawfully detained members
