Zamfara NSCDC Deploys Adequate Personnel For Gov, House of Assembly Elections

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Zamfara State Command has deployed adequate number personnel for the forthcoming Gubernatorial and house of assembly elections in Zamfara State.

This was stated by the state Commandant of the Corps, Muhammad Bello Muazu while addressing the combat ready officers and men in the state command headquarters Gusau as contained in a statement by the Public relations Officer of the command Ikor Oche.

Commandant Muazu averred that security of life and properties in the state was sacrosanct and of utmost importance to the Corps before, during and after the elections.

He maitained that the Corps was very ready and in a high spirits to close ranks with other sister security agencies to ensure a hitch free elections.

According to him, the strategic deployment has been made based on the three senatorial zones as well as other areas considered key either because of their population and/or insecurity vulnerability.

He stressed that each area would be headed by a Deputy Commandant of the Corps attached with specialist of the Counter Terrorist unit and Rapid Response Unit of the Corps to handle any perceived threat to the electorates during the election periods.

Muazu therefore warned that the Corps will not tolerate any act of restiveness or breakdown of law and order by any miscreants, hoodlums or political parties.

He affirmed that the Corps is apolitical and will maintain high level of professionalism and neutrality.

However, he averred that, the Corps will not hesitate to deal decisively in accordance with the extant laws of the Federation, anyone who contravenes the electoral Acts and other byelaws of the Federation before , during and after the elections.

He therefore assured all and sundry of adequate security coverages by the Corps and other sister agencies in the state in these periods.

The State Commandant, Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu however craved the support of all and sundry for security agencies in order to make the elections a rancor free exercise.

Meanwhile, Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu have warned strongly the officers and men to maintain neutrality and be apolitical in their conducts.

He however, vowed to invoke the Civil Service Rules and the Standard Operation Procedure of the Corps on any personnel found to have inclined to any political party directly or indirectly during these elections.

The Commandant, Commandant opined that, all special units of the Corps have been fully galvanized to beef up adequate security in conjunction with other sister agencies.

He said that the Special Force Unit, Counter Terrorist Unit, Rapid Response Unit, the Corps’ Anti Bomb Squad (CBRN), Anti Vandal unit, Disaster Management Unit and the intelligence and investigation units are some of the special units deployed to man these elections.

He stated that, all critical infrastructures and public utilities will be properly manned by the personnel of Department of Critical Infrastructures and National Assets ( CNAI) in order to wade off saboteurs.

Also, farmlands are to be manned by the Agro Rangers Unit of the Corps.

The State Commandant reiterated that in his commitment to maintain security in the state, the personnel of the Corps in special taskforce operations will ensure that no act of brigandage is carried out during these periods.
