Any traditional ruler caught sabotaging Governor Bello Matawalle’s effort in returning to office for the second term would be removed.
Addressing thousands of All Progressive Congress (APC) supporters in Gusau on Thursday, the chieftain of the party, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi warned that, Zamfara state government would not hesitate to remove any traditional ruler who was caught sabotaging Governor Matawalle during the next Saturday’s governorship election.
Shinkafi said “Matawalle has still more days in his first tenure, as such, if any traditional ruler is caught trying to sabotage his effort in winning the forthcoming governorship election will be removed”.
He also warned civil servants to stay away from partisan politics or face sanction.
He said, “I am also calling on the civil servants to avoid being partisan because the state government will deal ruthlessly with anyone caught in the act”.
Shinkafi also called on the opposition PDP members to make sure that only one person was sent to a poling unit as an agent to avoid causing trouble.
He warned that, the APC members would not take it lightly for the PDP to send more than one person to a poling unit as agents, adding that, “it is against electoral act”.
Shinkafi explained that the electoral law provides only one person to represent his party as an agent in each poling unit, stressing that “anything above that will not be accepted”.
He called on APC supporters in the state not to allow PDP or any party to keep more than one agent at any poling unit.
Shinkafi stressed that, anybody who cast his vote must leave the poling unit by at least 300 meters, advising the PDP members to change their decision to avoid any rancour during the governorship election.
