Banditry: Gov matawalle directs emirs for one week special prayers

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has directed Emirs and other traditional rulers in the state to organize a one week special prayer session to seek for Divine intervention against banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
In a statement, the Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Jamilu iliyasu said “The Governor gave the directives at Government House Gusau when he received the State Council of Chiefs led by its Chairman the Emir of Zamfara Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad.
The monarchs, according to the Press Secretary were in Government House for a condolence visit to the Governor over the death of the state’s PDP Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha and former Senator Yushau Muhammad Anka.
“The Governor told the Emirs that, his administration was making concerted effort to bring an end to the menace of armed banditry, kidnappings  and other criminal activities in the state through the stick and carrot approach”.
“He however insisted that, there was need for constant prayers in order to seeks for the divine intervention”.

Matawallen Maradun further said, “as  traditional rulers who are closer  to the people you should have a lot to support the government through collaborative effort aimed at securing Zamfara State”.
He therefore directed them to mobilise Imams and Islamic Clerics to embark on the special prayers at mosques and other preaching sessions for an end to menace.
While thanking the Emirs for their tireless support, the Governor also commended them for supporting and ensuring the success of the peace accord initiated by his administration.
