The Speaker, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Nasiru Muazu Magarya has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and stop the incessant killings of people by bandits.
The Speaker was concerned with the deplorable security situation in the state, particularly the resurgence of pockets of attacks by recalcitrant bandits in the state.
In a press release signed by his Media aide, Alhaji Mustafa Jafaru, the Speaker said, “As leaders, we will not fold our arms and watch lives of innocent people being perished in the hands of the devils”.
“We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari’s led federal government and top security brass of the country to immediately to the needful in zamfara state and other states of the north-west to end this ugly trend associated with banditry attacks”. Said the Speaker.
The Speaker and other principal officers of the State House of Assembly have yesterday met behind close doors with the local government sole Administrators of the state aimed at finding lasting solutions to banditry.
The Speaker, according to the statement said, “As custodians of local government councils in the state, there was the need to sit with them in order to chat on the way forward on how to end banditry that has crippled the socio-economic activities of the people of the state.
He maintained that, the meeting has now opened a an opportunity to interact with other security stakeholders in the state such as security chiefs, traditional rulers, opinion leaders and the proscribed vigilante group formally known as ‘Yan Sakai all at finding a lasting solution to insecurity.
