The Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya has directed the clerck to the House, Shehu Saidu Anka to formally and dully serve all the members of the House with notice of impeachment of the state Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau from office.
In a press release signed by the spokesperson of the House, Mustafa Jafaru Kaura said, “the action was in pursuant to section 188 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)”.
The Speaker, acccording to the release gave the directives under the announcement procedure contained in the House order paper of Wednesday which paved way for the House members to carefully study all the allegations levelled against the embattled Deputy Governor Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Muhammad Gusau.
Kaura said, “With this development, the House is following due diligence of the law as contained in the relevant provisions of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)”.
The Deputy Governor Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau could not be reached for comments at the time of filing in this report as he was mournig the death of his father’s younger brother, Alhaji Tukur Mohammed Gusau who died on Tuesday.
