Kebbi Committed To Supporting Women Reach Their Potential.

Women in the state have been assured of getting full support of the State Government to realize their potential in the society.

The Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu , represented by Babale Umar Yauri, Secretary to the State Government stated this while declaring open the regional conference of women in surveying organized by Northern Women in Surveying in partnership with the State Government .

He said the present administration has remained committed to involving Women in decision making in all aspects of human endeavor.

According him also, the State Government has provided them with enabling environment to make their meaningful contributions to the growth and development of the society.

While commending the association for organizing the conference, he said Kebbi State was ready to support any profession desirous of bringing development to people and the nation .

He lamented the limited number of female in Surveying, urging them to key into the profession .

‘ The State Government is commited to sensitizing youths, particularly the Girl Child to study survey and Geo-informatic at the early stage of their lives ‘, he said.

The Governor promised to employ the surveyors who have successfully completed their studies and are seeking employment.

In his key note address, the , Surveyor-General of the Federation, Dr. Abduganiyu Adeyemi -Adebomehin, identified youth empowerment as a critical element towards ensuring a crime-free society.

The Surveyor-General, who was represented by Alhaji Shehu Rufa’i, said: “Women as we are aware are mothers of the society, their empowerment is key to driving a crime free society, hence, the theme of this seminar is crucial at this particular period of our country’s challenge.

” Various profession are into this advocacy of women empowerment and as such, yours cannot be out of place.

“This seminar will certainly redirect the concept of our women in terms of the profession of Surveying and Geo-informatics.”

He lauded the high record of achievements by WIS executives through advocacy, enlightening women on economic reliance, reliability and confidence in geospatial solution as an empowerment possiblity for women and girls in today’s Nigerian economy .

The Surveyor-General assured the Surveyors of necessary support under his watch.

The National Coordinator, Survey. (Mrs) Olokeogun Damilola appreciated the Kebbi State Governor and Surveyor-General of the State for their doggedness and magnanimity in accepting to host the event.

” There is no doubt that the lecture will add to our knowledge base and give us an edge in the pursuit of our surveying career,” she said.

Earlier, the Surveyor-General, Kebbi State, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim-Argungu described WIS as an important collective body of opinion within the Surveyors Council concerned with aspirations of members.

He observed that the greatness of a nation was directly propositional to the level of mapping the nation had achieved, adding that no meaningful development in whatever form could take place without surveying and mapping.

“There are lot of demands for our products today in Nigeria more than ever before as the economy is being diversified.

” There is also a strong commitment for the increase and improvement of infrastructure by the state government of the day and private organisation,” he said.

He explained that the decision of the chairperson of women wing to organise the retreat was well-timed, adding that it would enable the august body to add its collective contribution towards a desired Surveyors Council.

The conference which was organised by Women-In Surveying (WIS) had “Geospatial Solution as an Empowerment for Women and Girls in Today’s Nigerian Economy’, as it’s theme”.
