Lawan Dare re- elected as Zamfara PDP gubernatorial candidate

The Zamfara State People’s Democratic party (PDP) has conducted a fresh governorship primary election, declaring Dauda Lawan Dare as the winner of the election again.

Recall that, the Federal High court sitting in Gusau, the state capital has annulled the election of Dauda Lawan Dare, following a case filed by Ibrahim Shehu and two others challenging the credibility of the election and ordered for a fresh one.

The election was conducted on Friday amid tight security where Lawan Dare was declared winner having scored the highest votes of 422.

His rivals, Ibrahim Shehu and Hafiz Mohammed got one vote each, while the other gubernatorial candidate, Wadatau Madawaki withdrew from the contest.

Announcing the election result, the secretary of the committee sent by the national headquarters of the party to conduct the election Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq said, “Having scored the highest votes of 422, I hereby declare Dr. Dauda Lawan Dare as the PDP gubernatorial candidate for 2023 general elections”.

Other members of the party waiting for the election results

“The other contestants, Ibrahim Shehu and Hafiz Mohammed got one vote each”.

“There were also four invalid votes”.

He thanked the party members, security agents and journalists who have assisted towards the success of the election.
