Kebbi Governor, Comerade Dr. Nasir Idris, has appealed to the Federal Government to dorect the contractor handling the construstion of a Smart Secondary School in Kebbi State to resume work and ensure completion of the project.
In a press release, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Nasir Idris, Alhaji Ahmed Idris said the Governor made the plea on Sunday while on an inspection tour of some ongoing projects in the state.
He advised the federal government to direct the contractor handling the work to either resume to the site or face necessary action against him.
While commending the federal government for choosing Kebbi State for the contract, the governor described the project as another way of promoting education system.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the inspection, the Hon. Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Tanko-Sununu assured the governor that the present administration under the able leadership of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu was working hard to ensure that the contractor resume work and complete the project.
Tanko-Sununu, who expressed dismay over the level of work, recalled that the project was awarded last year by the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He assured that the present administration under the watch of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was working hard to ensure completion of the school.
The minister said the projects was part of the federal government’s intervention through the Universal Basic Education Programme, adding that all the 36 states across the federation benefited from it.
Of the total projects, 34 states had already took delivery of theirs, except Kebbi and Bayelsa States.
“Let me use this medium to assure His Excellency that I will do everything possible to bring back the contractor to the site and ensure completion of the the work alongside other federal government ongoing projects in the state,” he concluded.
Those in attendance were the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Minister for state for Education Dr Yusuf Tanko-Sununu, Head of Service Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena, Rector Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Dr Usman Tunga, the Hon Commissioner for information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK and the Special Adviser on Pilgrims Alhaji Zayyanu Sanka.
