Mine is to salute the caurage and ordacity of the of our senior colleagues from the the senate who deemed it fit and necessary to take the bull by the horn to review the highest document of the land that’s the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.
The choice of sokoto as centre of this historic making event is apt, considering the strategic importance of the seat of the caliphate in the quest and struggle for virile and refined system of administration and democracy days back to the Usmanu Danfodiyo’s jihad that ushered what we have a Northern Nigeria of blessed memory.
The review of the Nigerian constitution is timely going by the fact that yearning and aspirations for the restructuring of our dear country is increasingly enormous.
Our concern we the legislatures generally is not only the review or constitutional amendments but strict adherence to the tenents and provisions amended taking into cognisance the bold step taken by the 8 Assembly under former senate president Bukola Saraki that guaranteed financial autonomy to states legislature and judiciary since 2018 but has never seen the light of the day .
At this juncture may I call on all the relevant stakeholders to please uphold the sanctity of the the constitution by adhering to the all the provisions there in.
Finally the position of zamfara state House of Assembly and by extension the government and good people of zamfara state is being presented in our position paper .
