Two former ministers clinch PDP Senatorial tickets in Zamfara

Two former ministers have emerged as Senatorial candidates under the People’s Democratic party (PDP) in Zamfara state.

They are the former minister of information during the administration of late Umar Musa Yar, adua, Ikra Aliyu Bilbis and that of environment under Obasanjo administration, Colonel Bala Mande (rtd).

Ikra Aliyu Bilbis scored 114 votes to clinch the Zamfara central Senatorial ticket, while his opponents, Lawal Barau Bungudu and Dr. Na Allah Isa got seven and two votes respectfully.

The former minister of environment, Colonel Bala Mande (rtd) contested unopposed for Zamfara North Senatorial zone.

Similarly, a former member, Zamfara state House of Assembly, Bello S/Fagon also contested unopposed for Zamfara West Senatorial zone.

Announcing the results, the primary election committee chairman sent to the state by the national headquarters of the PDP, Kabiru Usman said, the elections were conducted free and fair.

Addressing Journalists after the election, the former information minister, Ikra Aliyu Bilbis said his primary concern if elected to represent the state in the National Assembly was how to end banditry in the state.

“My primary concern if elected is how to end banditry activities in the state which has claimed several lives and rendered many farmers jobless”.

Ikra called on the electorate to make a wise decision and use their votes to elect leaders who would not abandon them after the election.
